Sam Sherman

Sr. Consultant

Sam Sherman brings valuable hands-on experience to the client service team at Vertus. In his role as a Senior Consultant in Account Management, Sam is responsible for maintaining client relationships, negotiating carrier renewals, and building cost-effective employee benefit strategies by using his wealth of knowledge in benefits and financial management.

Prior to joining Vertus, Sam worked as an Associate within the large market Health and Group benefits team at Willis Towers Watson for over three-years, spending time in both Irvine, CA and Chicago, IL. During his time at Willis Towers Watson, Sam served clients with detailed financial analyses, the development of pricing and employee contribution strategies, IBNR/IBNP modeling, and valuing plan designs. His main focus was to help clients reduce overall expenses while delivering quality benefit alternatives. In addition to his client responsibilities, Sam was tasked by Health and Benefits senior leadership to increase exchange efficiency, uncover the traits of a successful Health and Benefits leader, and promote purpose for employees. For his work on this project, Sam was awarded the Willis Towers Watson purpose award and was nominated for the CEO Circle award in 2019. Sam began his association with Willis Towers Watson as an intern in Irvine, CA, where he gained experience assisting analysts and consultants performing a variety of essential client service tasks.

Sam holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Management with a concentration in finance from Babson College in Babson Park, MA. While he has lived across the world (New Jersey, Minnesota, California, Switzerland, Boston and Chicago), he now calls Chicago home.
